BLTs – Weight Loss Style

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned BLT (that’s bacon, lettuce, and tomato for those not in the know). Their delicious, easy, and with quality ingredients, work well with a healthy diet. In this variation, we just throw out the bread. How convenient, eh?! Now it works well in a weight loss plan!

A Word on Bacon

Alright the big keys with bacon are quality source. No hormones, no antibiotics, and pasture raised are the good qualities to look for. Additionally, sodium varies a bit between brands. If you’re already eating a quality diet without processed foods (containing lots of sodium), bacon shouldn’t be an issue. It’s protein, fat, and 150% delicious.

Breadless BLTs

This really is a nice recipe. It combines an aspect of comfort food with the ease of a quick meal. This often becomes breakfast when we are pressed for time, or dinner when there’s no desire to cook, and supports weight loss. Additionally, they’re so good it’s an easy way to get my kids eating more greens. You’ll get plenty of vitamins A, K, and C from the veggies. If you add some quality mayo (like avocado mayo) it’s a nice additional fat/energy source. Toss a pickle in the mix and it’s like heaven on earth. Add this to your weekly meal plan. Ingredients
  • Bacon, fried or baked
  • Tomato thinly sliced
  • Romaine lettuce leaves
  • Mayo
  • Dill pickles, sliced
Instructions
  1. Ready for the easiest recipe of your life?
  2. Take a leaf of romaine
  3. Slather a little mayo inside
  4. Add two slices of bacon
  5. Add a couple slices of tomato and a couple slices of pickle
  6. AND... enjoy!
